The Saskatchewan framework gives most workplaces a clear answer once they've done a CSA Z1220-17 risk assessment. If your employer's safety coordinator, JHSC, or HR team has already classified your worksite, take their direction — the assessment they've done already factors in your hazard exposure, distance to definitive medical care, and shift size.

For most moderate and high hazard Saskatchewan workplaces — mining, construction, manufacturing, oil and gas service, large-scale agriculture, structural work — the answer is Standard First Aid with CPR/AED. That's the Class A attendant qualification under the Regulations.

If you're in a healthcare role — Saskatchewan Health Authority, a clinic, a long-term care facility, a U of S nursing or SaskPolytech health program — the answer is almost always BLS for Healthcare Providers. General workplace first aid certificates don't substitute for BLS in clinical contexts.

For low-hazard workplaces, parents, students, and volunteers, Emergency First Aid or one of our CPR-only options is generally enough.
